Materials
Yarn B, C, D
5mm hook

Notes
color order: C, B, D
do not cut your yarn, carry it up the sides
Sizes are shown as follows: S, (M), L
guage 4inx4in = 16 st x 18 rows
do not crochet this square too tightly, it will make it very small

Key
sl st = slip stitch
ch = chain
sc = single crochet

Row 1: ch 24(40)48, sc in the forth chain from your hook, ch 1, skip the next st, sc into the following repeat from * to * to the final stitch, ending with sc. (total stitches incl chains and turning chain: 22(38)46)

Row 2: using your next color, ch 2, skip the sc from the prevous row, sc into the ch sp, ch 1, sc into the ch sp from the previous row repeat from * to * to the final stitch, ending with a sc in the turning ch space (total stitches incl chains and turning chain: 22(38)46)

Repeat row 2 until desired length, carrying your colors up the sides: small(25), medium(43), large(52). You should end with the same color you started with, do not fasten off. Ch 1, turn.

Edge border: Sc into the first stitch, each stitch across, and around the square sides. Sc, ch 2, sc in each corner. You will need to make decreases to get to your magic number (small(20), medium(32), large(38)).

Small: top & bottom: dec x2; sides: dec x6
Medium: top & bottom: dec x6: sides dec x11
Large: top & bottom: dec x8; sides: dec x14

At the last corner, ch 2 and sl st into the first sc. Fasten off, weave in ends.
