The 6th Commandment—“You shall not murder”—declares the sacredness of human life. Every person bears the image of Elohim, making life set apart and not ours to destroy. This commandment reaches beyond physical violence into the heart, confronting anger, hatred, and dehumanization. It calls believers not only to avoid taking life but to actively protect, value, and defend it. In guarding human life, we reflect the character of our Heavenly Father and embody love toward our neighbor.
LYRICS
The Ten Commandments are a gift from Yahuah—
Yahusha declared “If you love Me, keep My commandments”
The Ten Commandments written on tablets of stone
With Yahuah's own finger;
Were never meant to be tampered with or changed by man.
Yahuah declared "You shall not add to the word
Which I am commanding you, nor take away from it,
Verse 1 –
Now the 6th Commandment is this
"You shall not murder"
A boundary drawn against what is wrong.
Life is sacred, heaven-breathed,
Stamped with glory none can seize.
From the womb to silver hair,
Every soul is Heaven’s care.
Not ours to take, not ours to own,
For life belongs to Yahuah alone.
Chorus –
Life is sacred, life is flame,
Bearing Elohim’s set apart Image.
Every heartbeat, every breath,
Precious beyond the shadow of death.
Guard our hands, guard our hearts,
Keep us far from violent parts.
Teach us mercy, teach us love,
As we reflect our Father above.
Verse 2 –
Not only blood upon the ground,
But anger where resentment’s found.
Yahusha explained the deeper line—
Hatred grows from seeds inside.
If rage is nursed and left to stay,
It steals a brother’s worth away.
Before the weapon, before the blow,
It starts where hidden passions grow.
Chorus –
Life is sacred, life is flame,
Bearing Elohim’s set apart Image.
Every heartbeat, every breath,
Precious beyond the shadow of death.
Guard our hands, guard our hearts,
Keep us far from violent parts.
Teach us mercy, teach us love,
As we reflect our Father above.
Verse 3 –
In the image of Elohim made,
No life is small, no value fades.
To strike at man unjustly here
Is to strike at Heaven’s image clear.
From Cain’s field to nations torn,
History shows what hate has borne.
Yet mercy still calls loud and wide—
Choose life, let love abide.
Chorus –
Life is set apart, life is flame,
Not a number, not a name.
Every neighbor, stranger too,
Carries sacred worth from Yah.
Break the cycle, end the chain,
Turn our wrath to healing rain.
Teach us peace where anger stirred,
Let mercy be our louder word.
Verse 4 –
When violence fills the streets and screens,
And hearts grow cold to suffering scenes,
When life is weighed by gain or choice,
And the weakest have no voice—
This commandment stands unchanged,
Through every era, every age.
A line drawn firm by Heaven’s hand:
Life is sacred in this land.
Bridge –
The Torah says, “Do not take away.”
Messiah expounds the Torah.
Not only hands kept clean from harm,
But hearts transformed, restored, made calm.
Bless those who curse, forgive the wrong,
Overcome evil with a song.
Where hatred once would dominate,
Let reconciliation recreate.
Chorus –
Choose life in word, choose life in deed,
Choose life in thought, uproot the seed.
Where anger whispers, let it cease,
Replace revenge with set apart peace.
For when we guard another’s breath,
We honor Him who conquered death.
You shall not murder—let it be
A covenant of humanity.
Outro
Not merely Torah engraved in stone,
But truth upon the heart alone.
To cherish life in all we do—
Is loving Yahuah and neighbor too.
