An absolute classic for all you lovely people. Thought i'd mix this one up a bit and add a bit of my own twist to the song since I have heard countless acoustic covers of this and wanted to make something a bit more interesting. I was inspired by tracks like amber run's "Haze" and Henry Jamison's "Beauty sleep" and found a plugin perfect for recreating the vocoder robot like sound. It's a free plugin called MIDI choir and works by playing keys and singing at the same time, the voice will then be autotuned to those select notes being played.

If you're sat listening thinking - wow this robot voice thing really contradicts the whole message the song is giving- you are partly right but I also wanted to use it since I found it so beautiful and beauty can be found in the rarest of places (plastic bag scene from american beauty) not just in nature but also in technology. Not just in positive things but also darker things like the rumbling of thunder which brings about its own beauty.

As for what this song means to me.. It was played recently at my grandma's funeral requested by her along with footage from David attenborough's planet earth and since then it has meant a lot much more to me. It also brings me feelings of nostalgia and I can't help but look back to when I first heard the song used ironically in the movie Madagascar. I do really love the original so I'm sorry if my rendition of this classic is not to your taste but that is completely understandable.
