Описание: Auchmithie, a small fishing village in Angus, Scotland, lies three miles northeast of Arbroath. Perched on cliffs of Devonian red sandstone, it overlooks a shingle beach featuring pebbles, many of which are dark red jasper. The village has a deteriorating harbor, designed by James Barron in 1889, that still hosts a few fishing boats. Auchmithie is believed to be the birthplace of the Arbroath smokie, a hot-smoked haddock, inspired by a local legend about a fire that accidentally cooked salted haddock to delicious results.
