The last heir to the 5170 lineage, the 5170P chronograph in platinum with blue dial is now a discontinued timepiece but remains a window into Patek Philippe’s history as the dial is reminiscent of previous versions of the 5170 as well as its predecessor, the 5070. It is this historic significance and the classic design that will peak the interest of many collectors but might go unnoticed by younger enthusiasts who might only be looking for the easily recognizable Nautilus or Aquanaut.

When Patek introduced the 5170 we were also introduced to their first ever in-house manual chronograph movement, the beautiful calibre CH 29-535 PS which offers a 65 hour power reserve and can be seen through the exhibition case back in all its glory. Adorned with the famous Patek Philippe seal, this movement has stood the test of time and remains an example of the best of the best in manual chronograph movements.

Taking a look at the face of the watch itself we see a rich blue dial complete with twin sub-dials, tachymeter scale, and diamond baguette-cut hour markers. Simple elegance has remained a pillar of design for the 5170 allowing the timeless look to travel through different iterations and this last one is no different.
