Homemade German Chocolate Birthday Cake For Jr

Описание: Hello and welcome to Old Ways Gardening and Prepping.🍀 Would like to welcome you each in to our kitchen with me on this beautiful evening. It's that time of year and Jr has chosen this year to have a German Chocolate cake for his birthday.

Absolutely love to make delicious old fashioned cakes especially when they are birthday cake requested. Was rooting for a homemade carrot cake but nope he wants chocolate this year. Just so thankful that he is still with us and want to celebrate his birthday as much as possible.

This recipe is a very moist deep chocolate cake and with all its layers of cake and frostings it truly is heavenly. It's not hard at all to make from scratch and tastes so much better. Below is a listing of the ingredients to make this amazing cake.

Old Fashioned German Chocolate Cake

For the cake:
2 cups of sugar
1 3/4 cups of all purpose flour
3/4 cup of cocoa powder
1 1/2 tsp's of baking powder
1 1/2 tsp's of baking soda
1 tsp of salt
2 large eggs
1 cup of buttermilk
1/2 cup of melted butter
1 cup of boiling water

For the Coconut and Pecan Frosting:

1/2 cup of light brown sugar
1/2 cup of cane sugar
1/2 cup of butter
3 large egg yolks
3/4 cups of evaporated milk
1 TBsp of real vanilla
1 1/4 cups of sweetened shredded coconut
1 1/4 cups of fine chopped pecans

Chocolate Buttercream Frosting

1/2 cup of butter
2/3 cup of unsweetened cocoa
3 cups of powdered sugar
1/3 cup of evaporated milk
1 tsp of real vanilla

Bake the cakes in a 375*F oven for 30-40 minutes or till a butter knife or toothpick comes out clean.
