2019 Dam Fine Car Show

Описание: This is a short 6 minute video that I compiled from this year's 2nd annual Dam Fine Car Show held at Canyon Lake Dam near Sattler, TX. The entries were parked single file across the Dam, entering from the north end and leaving at the end of the show by the south end gate.


I flew during this event just for the fun of flying and did not create this video to promote, or on behalf of, any of the organizers for this community event.

The Canyon Lake Dam Alliance was the sponsor / organizer of this show and proceeds raised go to improve the access to this Dam and recreational area. This is one of the few dams in the country that allow free access to pedestrians to walk across the dam. But one day a year, the US Corp of Engineers opens the gates wide and allows vehicles from this event to drive across and park on the dam. It was my first time to actually drive my vehicle across the dam (Silver SUV shown in video).

The event had approximately 135 entries. Check-in started at the North end around 8am. The show started at 10am, but we still had late entries showing up after 11am. In fact, we still had cars showing up after 2pm wanting to pay the entry fee and be in the show. Those were not included in the above count. The show was over at 4pm. Weather started out in the low 70's with overcast clouds and a nice breeze, but by 2pm the clouds were clearing and the temperatures got up into the mid 80's (F). That was rather toasty out there on the dam with no shade available. The wind also picked up to 10mph, gusting to 15mph, blowing stuff around.

Members of Hill Country REACT Team and other volunteers were on hand to provide help with radio communications and minimal traffic control, under the directions of the Comal County Sheriff's office. The "traffic control" was mostly telling drivers where to park for free and filtering out the vendors, volunteers and late entries who needed to park up on the top of the hill at the south end. Volunteers from the sponsoring organization handled all the ticket sales and other tasks needed for a successful car show.

The video was compiled from footage taken with my Mavic 2 Pro drone in 4K, plus a few still shots with my Galaxy S9+ cellphone. You can guess which is which, but you might be wrong.
