Big Boy 4014 Visits Greeley Colorado July 8, 2021

Описание: I saw a Facebook post saying the Union Pacific Big Boy 4014 locomotive was going to pass through Greeley Colorado on a shake down run for their upcoming tour of the Southwest. My daughter, grandson and I decided to go see it.


4014 was supposed to arrive at 1:30, we had just enough time to get there. When we got there they said The Big Boy was delayed and it would arrive in 45 minutes. Long story short it finally made it 5 hours later. It was 101 degrees but we had some folding chairs and a nice shade tree to sit under.


We got to see several trains pass by, finally 4014 arrived.


As we headed home our route paralleled the UP tracks and we caught up to the locomotive.

The scene on the highway was similar to a bear sighting at Yellowstone, people slamming on their brakes and pulling over. Imagine driving home from work, looking up and there was the Big Boy.

We pulled ahead and got to see another crossing. We all had a blast, especially my Grandson, there's something about little kids and trains.
