Following on from his previous talk, Dr Carl Savage returns to the MMN Coin Talk series to continue exploring the rich history of Scottish coinage. Beginning with the reign of Robert III and concluding with the Union of the Crowns under James VI, this session will trace the evolution of currency during a pivotal period in Scotland’s past. Drawing from his recent PhD research on late medieval coinage in the Anglo-Scottish borders, Carl offers new insights into how coins reflected shifting politics, royal identity, and national ambition.
Coin Talk is a regular online talk hosted by the Money & Medals Network, presenting different element of numismatics from the basics to the more advanced. Each session will delve into a distinctive facet of numismatics, ranging from fundamental principles to advanced topics. Expect engaging talks lasting 30-40 minutes, with a dedicated Q&A session at the conclusion, allowing our audience to participate actively.
