HIKING SABYINYO VOLCANO UGANDA: Stairway to Heaven, Canoeing on the LAKE BUNYONYI, KIWA hot springs

Описание: At the end of our trip to Uganda, we climbed the stairs to the sky to conquer the peak that marks the border of three countries (Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo). This dormant volcano is called Sabinho, the oldest in the Virunga mountain range. The climb turned out to be exhausting due to the steep ascent and unstable stairs, climbing 1500 meters for a distance of about 6 km. We climbed with a group of other hikers and the UWA Wildlife Authority provided us with an armed guide, which is needed due to the unrest in the border area and wildlife. Having risen to the top, we breathed in the air of three countries, meditated, had a snack and went down. This time we climbed legally by purchasing the necessary permits. Usually we travel like savages and can afford to climb where even the locals are afraid, raise the adrenaline in our blood and move towards our goal of discovery and adventure.

After conquering the summit, we reached the second deepest lake in Africa called Bunyoni. It is alpine and is located at an altitude of 1962 meters above sea level. The lake will amaze you with its size and the number of islands where cozy hotels are located. In one of these called Paradise, we stopped. The next day we rented a canoe hand-carved from a huge piece of wood, essentially we were floating in a log. But the weather became stormy, accompanied by a strong wind with rain, and we had to stop our journey along the lake and moor to the shore.

The icing on the cake was a bath in the Kiva hot springs. There was no one there except us, this secluded place is located in the middle of a bamboo grove, there is everything you need to relax, sun loungers, a bar, a massage corner and a mini spa. We doused ourselves with hot water to the maximum, washing off all the red Ugandan dust that soaked our skin after a month of hitchhiking in this amazing country called Wakanda, the Pearl of Africa.
