Judy Garland in A Star Is Born, 1954. This is a High Quality, Full Screen Close Up.
Since discovering a better way to obtain a Closer View, I've uploaded a few reprises. This is one of them. I'm always searching for ways to improve quality & present Judy in new & different ways.
This is one of my favorite scenes, & for the first time I'm catching little nuances more clearly. I can see their dialogue from the steps, when Judy sings 'You drink too much', which is heard in the audio recording afterwards.Gestures & expressions between Judy & James Mason are so poignant while they are listening to the recording ... I had always wanted a closer view of it. Watching it on DVD, the bars can be so distracting & at certain places in the movie, - like this scene - I would actually put myself right up to the screen.
The chemistry between Judy & James is extraordinary here. Now I can see it up close without a magnifying glass. SMILE.
'Here's What I'm Here For' was the first recording session for 'A Star Is Born', August 21, 1953.
The song was composed by Ira Gershwin, & Judy's long-time friend Harold Arlen ... who also composed the music for 'Over The Rainbow.'
What am I here for?
It's time you knew.
Here's what I'm here for:
I'm here for you.
Can you forgive me?
Am I too late?
All the years that I've wandered and pondered
Were squandered.
My heart insisted
I seek you out.
That you existed,
My heart had no doubt.
To share a journey that leads to heaven's door,
You'll find is what I'm here for.
