Описание: On March 13, 1881, a bomb exploded on the streets of St. Petersburg, killing Czar Alexander II—one of Russia's most reform-minded rulers. He had freed millions of serfs, expanded railroads, and introduced important legal reforms. But a radical terrorist group called the People’s Will decided it wasn’t enough.

In this Today in History episode, we look at the assassination that reversed many of Alexander II’s reforms, empowered his hardline son Alexander III, and helped set Russia on the path to the 1917 Revolution.
