Dirty Domes Done Dirt Cheap. For $13 USD per pack of 36 domes, you can kit out your Topre or EC keyboards with some of the nicest and most tactile domes on the market for a fraction of what we've usually had to pay for aftermarket replacement rubber. These are designed after the "BKE" style of Topre dome, with a few changes like a closed top for improved acoustics and slightly different dome geometry.

While the domes are not the exact same as BKE, they instead innovate in a different direction to provide a wonderfully refined tactility unlike any other. I actually prefer this over BKE.

The 50g Pepper (Burgundy) domes are an excellent choice for someone looking for a more tactile feel than brand-new stock 45g Topre. As Topre rubber domes age over time/with use, they get heavier and more tactile. These have the lightness of a brand-new HHKB, but much nicer tactility. It also rebounds with enthusiasm, giving a very pleasant typing experience.

I can still feel and enjoy the tactile bump, even with my hover-typing style which bottoms out the key with a lot of energy. If I just rest my fingers on the keys and press the domes as I need them, the feel of the tactile bump on my fingertips is very pleasant and not tiring at all.

While I do think that Astro Domes are best enjoyed at their heavier weights, these are an outstanding option for those who are looking for a more tactile feel with a light weight to reduce fatigue.


Please note that this is a set of early prototype samples, and the final product may sound a little different. The keyboard is also heavily modified for maximum silence!

Keyboard: HHKB Professional Hybrid 25th Anniversary Edition.
Plate: Integrated ABS plastic.
Dampening: 2x 0.5mm Sho plate gaskets, resting underneath the keycaps.
Domes: BlindAssassin Astro Dome Prototype: 50g "Pepper."
Lube: GHV4 on sliders.
Stabilizer: Lubed with Krytox 205g0 and BDZ, oring on spacebar.
Keycaps: HHKB 25th Anniversary Snow.
Microphone: Blue Yeti X, mounted to a microphone arm on a Blue Radius III shock mount on an adjacent table to remove desk noise. +5 decibles.
Camera: Sony a6500, with a Sigma 30mm F1.4 lens.
