The Story:
Dr. Henry Jekyll, a brilliant scientist obsessed with the dual nature of man, develops a potion that physically separates his good and evil sides. In doing so, he unleashes Mr. Hyde, a monstrous being who terrorizes the streets of London. This film is a haunting exploration of the darkness that lives within us all.
💡 Fascinating Movie Trivia:
The "Mirror" Transformation: John Barrymore famously achieved the initial stages of Jekyll’s transformation into Hyde using only facial contortions and body language—no camera cuts or heavy makeup were used for the first half of the scene!
A Year of Doubles: Interestingly, 1920 saw the release of two different "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" films. This version, produced by Paramount, was so successful it completely overshadowed the other (produced by Pioneer Film Corp).
