-What are some ways we can spread kindness like the Loveosaurus?
-The kids try to catch the Loveosaurus using different traps. What do you think is the best way to "catch" love and kindness?
-Can love and kindness be trapped, or do we share them in different ways?
-What are some ways the characters tried to catch the Loveosaurus?
-Were any of their ideas based on science, engineering, or problem-solving?
-What do you think would happen if the Loveosaurus visited your school or neighborhood?
-How would people react to a dinosaur spreading love?
-If you could create your own Loveosaurus, what would it look like?
-What special ways would it spread kindness?
STEAM Follow-Up Activity: "Design a Loveosaurus Trap!"
Purpose:To encourage creativity, engineering thinking, and problem-solving by designing a trap that could "catch" the Loveosaurus, while also reflecting ways we can spread love and kindness.
Materials Needed:
Paper and pencils for planning
Craft sticks, straws, pipe cleaners, LEGOs, cardboard, or building blocks
Tape, glue, and scissors (kid-safe)
String or yarn
Construction paper, stickers, markers for decoration
Steps to Complete the Activity:
Brainstorm & Plan:
Ask children to think about how they would catch the Loveosaurus.
What kind of trap would work best? A net, a cage, a maze, or something else?
How could the trap also show love and kindness (e.g., making it a fun, welcoming place instead of just trapping)?
Have them sketch out their ideas on paper before building.
Build the Trap:
Using the provided materials, allow children to construct their Loveosaurus traps.
Encourage them to use their creativity—traps can include ramps, tunnels, or moving parts!
Test & Explain:
Have each child or group explain how their trap works.
Discuss how engineering and problem-solving are part of designing traps.
Ask: "What could make your trap better? Would the Loveosaurus WANT to be caught in your trap?"
Discussion on Love & Kindness:
After the children build their traps, discuss:
What are some ways we can "catch" kindness instead of a dinosaur?
How can kindness spread just like the Loveosaurus spreads love?
What is a better way to “invite” the Loveosaurus instead of trapping it?
Adult Scripting to Guide Discussion:
"In the story, the kids try all kinds of creative ways to catch the Loveosaurus. But instead of just trapping kindness, how can we invite kindness into our lives? Maybe we don’t need to trap the Loveosaurus—maybe we can make a fun and welcoming place for it! Just like in science and engineering, sometimes the best solutions come when we try new things and learn from our ideas. What’s one way YOU can spread kindness, just like the Loveosaurus?"
