In industrialised countries, traumatic brain injury is the most common cause of disability for young adults. Professor Nigel V. Marsh shares his insights on the prediction of survival and patterns of recovery following significant traumatic brain injury – including the long term pattern of improvement in cognitive functioning over the first five years following injury, psychosocial outcome for the survivors, and the needs of family members who provide the majority of the long term care for survivors.
