Valentin Barray is a French pianist and composer. He started the piano very early on, playing with his father Laurent - himself a diatonic accordionist. Together, they played world music repertoire. Valentin discovered the joy of performing live with various music groups. He is still very inspired by these moments of spontaneous improvisation and oral music.

At the age of 14, Valentin Barray started studying classical music and was received at the Royal College of Music of London. He studied classical piano, jazz, contemporary music and film scores. He was the pupil of Mike Moran ( Freddy Mercury’s pianist). At that time, he won several national and international piano competition.

Valentin performed at Rouen’s Opera, London Festival Hall V&A museum, Sheffield Crucible Theatre, Paris Cité internationale of arts.

As an artist-in residence at the Cité internationale of Arts in Paris, he composed and recorded his first album ‘Mirages’ released in 2017. This piano solo album is a personal exploring of folk and traditional music’s dance dimension.

Since the release, Valentin has toured Europe and has performed his compositions, adapted for bals and concerts.

Valentin is preparing a second album for spring 2020

Valentin Barray est un pianiste et un compositeur français. Très jeune, il commence le piano en jouant avec son père, accordéoniste diatonique. Ensemble, ils explorent un répertoire de musiques du monde. Valentin découvre la joie de monter scène avec des formations diverses. Il restera très marqué par l’improvisation et le partage d’une musique orale et spontanée.

A 14 ans, il commence des études de musique classique. et est admis rapidement admis au Royal College of Music de Londres. Il étudie le piano classique , jazz, et contemporain ainsi que la musique de film et est l’élève de Mike Moran ( pianiste pour Freddy Mercury) Il gagne plusieurs concours nationaux et internationaux.

Valentin se produit à l’Opéra de Rouen, Royal Festival Hall de Londres, Crucible Theatre de Sheffield, à la Cité Internationale des Arts de Paris, au V&A Museum.

En résidence à la Cité Internationale des Arts de Paris, il compose et enregistre son premier album ‘Mirages’, sortie en 2017. L’album, pour piano solo, est une exploration personnelle autour de l’univers de la musique à danser.

Depuis la sortie de l’album, Valentin a fait plusieurs tournées européenne ou il a joué ses compositions en version concert, et en version bal, autour du piano.

Valentin prépare actuellement un deuxième album, sortie au printemps 2020.
