In a quiet corner of the world, where the lamplight glowed soft and golden against the windowpanes, there lived a young couple whose story had once been whispered in the winds of distant lands. Their names were Peter and Wendy, and though their days of soaring through starlit skies were long behind them, a gentle magic still lingered in the air around their little home.

Inside, laughter warmed the rooms like sunlight. Two tiny daughters — twins with bright eyes and soft curls — filled the cottage with the sweet music of baby giggles. Peter would lift them high, spinning them until Wendy scolded him through her smile, and Wendy would cradle them close, humming lullabies that seemed older than time itself.

For a while, peace lived there.
For a while, the world was kind.

But magic, even the gentlest kind, casts long shadows.

And one night, a shadow came calling.

It crept across the walls like spilled ink, cold and hungry. The wind outside howled as if warning them, rattling the shutters with frantic urgency. Peter felt it first — a chill that sank into his bones, a familiar darkness he had hoped never to face again.

Wendy gathered the babies close, her heart pounding. “Peter… what is it?”

Before he could answer, the door shuddered under a violent blow. Glass shattered. The lamps flickered. And through the splintering wood came the echo of a cruel, familiar laugh — a laugh that had haunted Peter’s dreams for years.

Hook had found them.

The night erupted into chaos. Shadows swirled like living things. Peter fought with every spark of magic left in him, and Wendy shielded the twins with trembling arms. But the darkness was too strong, and the house too small to hold the storm that had come for them.

When the world finally fell silent, the cottage lay in ruins.
The lamps had gone out.
The laughter had faded.
And Peter and Wendy — brave, beloved, and fiercely devoted — were gone.

But the twins lived.

Their cries rose into the night, thin and frightened, echoing through the broken beams and drifting smoke.

And someone heard them.

A soft glow flickered through the shattered window — a tiny, trembling light. It darted inside, weaving through the wreckage, its brightness growing as it neared the cradle.

Tinker Bell.

Her wings beat in frantic bursts, scattering golden dust across the floor. She called out for Peter, for Wendy, her voice a chiming heartbreak. But no answer came.

Then she saw the babies.

Two little girls, frightened but unharmed, clutching each other with tiny hands. Tinker Bell’s glow softened. She flew to them, brushing their cheeks with gentle light, her own heart breaking with every sob they made.

She knew what she had to do.

With a fierce, determined spark, she gathered the twins into her arms — small though she was, her magic made her strong. She carried them out into the night, away from the ruin, away from the danger that still lingered in the shadows.

She flew until dawn touched the rooftops.

She flew until she found the families who had once loved Peter and Wendy.

And with a heavy heart, she placed one baby in the arms of Wendy’s kin, and the other in the arms of Peter’s. The families, shaken and grieving, understood the danger that had taken their children. They agreed — with tears and trembling voices — that the twins must be kept apart, hidden from the darkness that had stolen their parents.

Before she left, Tinker Bell pressed a half‑locket into each baby’s blanket — the last gift Peter and Wendy had prepared for them. The halves glowed faintly, as if whispering a promise that one day, the sisters would find each other again.

Tinker Bell hovered above them, her light dim with sorrow.

“I’ll watch over you,” she whispered, her voice a soft chime in the morning air. “Both of you. For him… and for her.”

Then she rose into the sky, disappearing into the pale dawn.

And far away, in a place where shadows gather and wait, something ancient stirred — watching, listening, biding its time.

The story of the twins had begun.
