The controversy surrounding Tikhiri Sarpanch Chameli Ojha has intensified, with BJD president and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik launching a sharp attack on the BJP government in Odisha.

In a social media post, Naveen Patnaik alleged that Odisha is witnessing the suppression of a woman elected representative for raising public issues. Referring to the incident involving Chameli Ojha, he stated that the treatment meted out to the woman sarpanch inside a government office is unacceptable in a democratic society.

Naveen further accused the BJP government of attempting to silence the voice of a woman representative and urged Chief Minister Mohan Majhi to immediately intervene. He called for the protection of democratic values and the dignity and self-respect of women.

The issue has now triggered a major political confrontation between the ruling BJP and the opposition BJD, drawing significant public attention across Odisha.
