Tip #1: Park in the back of the parking lot.

Probably not a new tip if you’ve been hanging around anyone in the fitness business, but this will definitely help you get in more steps into your day. How many steps should you aim for each day? I usually tell women to aim for about 8,000 steps per day.

Tip #2: Do 10 reps of some kind of exercise (squats, lunges, countertop push-ups, calf raises, etc. ) every time you pick up your phone.

Scrolling email, Instagram, or Facebook? Responding to a text message? Multitask and get some movement in!

Tip #3: Set a movement reminder on your phone or watch.

Or turn those movement alerts back on :) Move in some way every hour. Take a lap around the house. Walk up and down your stairs at home 5 times. Stand up and do 20 squats. The alerts can be helpful reminders that could motivate you to move.

Tip #4: Stretch before you go to bed.

Take 5-10 minutes before you get under those covers to stretch. Focus on one area of your body each night. Not only might it help your body and mind calm down from the chaos of the day, but your flexibility will improve. Win-win!!

Tip #5: Use your lunch break or nap time as a movement break!

Every step, every rep, ALL movement counts! Don’t discount the effectiveness of moving in little bits throughout the day. It all adds up!
