But are they? Thousands of school children in at least 158 schools whose land has been grabbed would question this. Many of them come from some of Kenya’s poorest homes. Their parents have pegged their hopes on one more common saying – education is the future, because they have little else to offer their young ones so that they can hope for a brighter tomorrow? Africa Uncensored’s John-Allan Namu brings you an in-depth documentary about two schools, on the brink of disappearing, and the ragged determination of their children and teachers to hang on, long after the law that should be protecting them abandoned them. They are shouting back a slogan to those that would dare interfere with their dreams – a slogan that this story has borrowed its title from. Not my school.
