I was nine years old when John McCain was shot down over Vietnam and taken prisoner. More than half a century later, as a 67-year-old American, I found myself standing at the John McCain Memorial in Hanoi — a quiet place where history, memory, and reconciliation intersect.
This short video is a personal reflection on time, war, and how events we first experience as children can stay with us for a lifetime. Filmed during my visit to Hanoi, it is not a political statement, but a human one — about remembering the past honestly, honoring endurance, and recognizing how former enemies can move forward. History is no longer something I read about; here, it became personal.
