Our final and longest day on the Pacific Crest Trail — 14.37 miles, 2,604 ft of ascent, and 4,210 ft of descent.
We left Upper Park Lake before sunrise and began climbing as the first light spilled across the Cascade peaks. The huckleberry bushes were turning red, hinting at fall’s arrival, while golden rays painted the mountain ridges. The trail wound through rocky slopes and quiet forests before leading us across the iconic Kendall Katwalk, one of the most breathtaking sections of the Washington PCT, with 360° views that stopped us in our tracks.
From there, we descended five forested miles to Snoqualmie Pass, marking the end of a 6-day, 65.58-mile journey through the heart of the North Cascades and Alpine Lakes Wilderness— 14,300 ft of gain and 13,242 ft of loss.
This day was pure adventure with dramatic climbs, sweeping views, and the final steps of an unforgettable trek through the wild beauty of Washington’s Alpine Lakes Wilderness on the Pacific Crest Trail.
