Описание: We’ve given the differently abled a voice, but have we given them a microphone? Former University of Texas student body president Alejandrina Guzman ran on a platform with a powerful message. Her mission was to provide differently-abled students with more than just the bare minimum -- she wanted to empower these students to be leaders by opening up platforms for them to lecture, pitch, campaign, and lead with conviction. Learn about how Guzman battled for equality of opportunity on her college campus and why accessibility is about so much more than installing an automatic door. Alejandrina Guzman is the first Latina Student Body President (SBP) in UT Austin and the first physically differently-abled SBP in the Big XII Conference. She served in the 2017-2018 term and aimed to empower those around her and make a positive impact in the communities she was a part of. Currently, she is a fellow in the Mexican American Legislative Caucus working for Representative Hernandez. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
