On the hills of Cox’s Bazar lies the world’s largest refugee camp, home to nearly one million Rohingya who fled Myanmar. The sudden influx in 2017 led to severe deforestation, soil erosion, and health challenges as families cut down forests for firewood.
Through the SAFE+2 programme, UN partners introduced LPG cooking fuel, protected forests, restored ecosystems, and built resilience by creating livelihoods for both refugees and host communities.
This video shows the journey from crisis to climate action — and why continued support is vital for the Rohingya and surrounding communities.
