Surrendering Your Vehicle in Your Lemon Law Case

This typically happens once the manufacturer has processed the settlement check but before it has been issued. You'll be scheduled at a local dealership, usually one of your choosing, where you'll transfer ownership of the vehicle. This surrender process typically takes between 20 to 60 minutes to complete.

All vehicle owners must be present to sign the necessary DMV paperwork. While your vehicle does not need to be in perfect condition and can show reasonable signs of wear and tear, like small scratches or dents, larger issues like a cracked windshield or bald tires should be addressed beforehand to avoid additional charges from the manufacturer.

We recommend arriving 15 minutes early and making sure to bring the spare key and any other original equipment that came with the vehicle. Once the surrender is completed, you're essentially at the finish line of your case and can look forward to receiving your settlement.
