Here’s a simple and traditional Milk Kheer recipe 👇
Shahi Milk Kheer Recipe
Creamy, sweet, and rich — a royal Indian dessert made with milk, sugar, and dry fruits.
Ingredients:
1 litre full-fat milk
¼ cup basmati rice
5–6 tbsp sugar (adjust to taste)
2 tbsp chopped almonds
2 tbsp chopped cashews
1 tbsp raisins
3–4 green cardamom pods (crushed)
A few strands of saffron (optional)
Instructions:
Rinse and soak rice: Wash the rice and soak it in water for 20–30 minutes.
Boil milk: In a heavy-bottomed pan, bring the milk to a boil.
Add rice: Drain the soaked rice and add it to the boiling milk. Stir continuously to avoid sticking.
Simmer: Cook on low flame for 30–40 minutes until the rice turns soft and the milk thickens. Stir often.
Add sugar & cardamom: Mix in the sugar and crushed cardamom; stir until sugar dissolves completely.
Add dry fruits: Add chopped almonds, cashews, raisins, and saffron. Simmer for another 5 minutes.
Serve: Garnish with more dry fruits on top. Serve warm or chilled.
Tip: For a richer flavor, use condensed milk instead of sugar or add a touch of rose water at the end.
