Upright Bass String Comparison - Thomastik Spriocore vs. LaBella 7710N

Описание: There is always a lot of discussion about what strings to get for your bass - partly because we change strings so seldom, and because they are freaking expensive.

I happened to have access to two very similar Kay basses (my '56 c-1, and my dad's '54 c-1) with different strings. I've used Thomastik Spirocore mediums for about 20 years now, on both my Kay and my mandobass. Dad decided to try the LaBella 7710Ns after seeing a documentary on the bassist that led their design.

being nylon tape wound, the LaBella's aren't suitable for bowing, but they are definitely softer than my Spriocores. I'll let you decide on the tone yourselves. The audio is just my Gopro's built in mic, so it's not super stellar - but gets the point across. I play an old jazz exercise that I don't remember where I got it, and Ashokan Farewell on both.
