প্রথমবারের মতো যুক্তরাষ্ট্র থেকে গম আমদানির কার্যক্রম শুরু করেছে বাংলাদেশ সরকার। এর অংশ হিসেবে ৫৬ হাজার ৯৫৯ মেট্রিক টন গম নিয়ে চট্টগ্রাম বন্দরের বহির্নোঙরে পৌঁছেছে ‘এমভি নর্স স্ট্রাইড’ নামের একটি জাহাজ । বাংলাদেশ ও যুক্তরাষ্ট্র সরকারের মধ্যে স্বাক্ষরিত জিটুজি চুক্তির আওতায় মোট ৪ লাখ ৪০ হাজার মেট্রিক টন গম আমদানি করা হবে। এর প্রথম চালান হিসেবেই এ গম এসেছে দেশে।
