Описание: Travel and tourism is India's largest service industry. In fact, it represents 8% - 10% of the GDP for a large number of countries in the world, in some countries it is even larger.

India has a vast heritage, cultural resources, and destinations of natural beauty, adventure, and leisure.

India formulated its first tourism policy in 1982. The industry has continued to grow since then. The principal government agency in this space is ITDC Limited as formed in 1962.

In 2002, The government also formed a National Tourism Policy.
