Novum is a machine set segmental retaining wall unit that can be installed with a mini excavator and still build 4’ - 6’ gravity walls, depending on the application.

They are made of wet-cast concrete right here at Truemont Materials, and have 4000 psi compressive strength.

Novum has roughly 2.9 sqft of face per block. It’s 9” tall, 46 ⅛” wide, and 20” in depth. Each block weighs roughly 575 pounds.

In addition, Novum is part of the Redi-Rock family of products, so it can be used in conjunction with Redi-rock applications!

The minimum turn radius is set at 14.5’, allowing for both concave AND convex curves (Redi-Rock has the same design parameters)

When it comes to installation, blocks can be moved using the fork slot system, or the lifting hooks in the back and in the top of the unit. Use a chain and hook up to the top lifting hook to install each block.

The knob and groove system allow the blocks to interlock together. Just be sure to move each block forward to engage the knob. This will ensure that you won’t have any movement in your wall later on, and will naturally set the batter of the wall at 5 degrees.

The hollow-core section makes the block a bit lighter, which cuts down on shipping costs, but more importantly it allows for geogrid reinforcements to pass straight through the block for larger MSE applications. Infill these voids with crushed stone during the installation.

This wall system includes corner, top, and cap blocks allowing for a solid finished look. AND, to create half blocks, just cut a block in half!

This texture is called “Alpine” and has 6 separate faces so it’s harder to see identical blocks (which will give it a more natural look). The “Summit” texture is also available. It too has 6 separate faces and looks more like a split limestone application.
