Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga on October 20, 2020, pledged low-interest loans of 50 billion yen (US$474 million) to help cushion Indonesia's economy from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. He also agreed with Indonesian President Joko Widodo to step up security cooperation and begin discussions on resuming travel between the two countries.
