"Himeji Castle" widely known as a beautiful famous castle representing Japan.
In Himeji Castle which has escaped the air raid and the fire miraculously, even now, many ruins of the Edo period are left behind, and the major donjon, the minor donjon, etc. are designated as the national treasure.
The historical value was observed also in the world and authorized by the World Cultural Heritage in 1993.
姫路城は昭和26年に国宝に指定、平成5年12月には、
奈良の法隆寺とともに、ユネスコの世界遺産委員会で
17世紀初頭の日本の城郭建築を代表する史跡建造物として、
正式に指定され、世界文化遺産となりました。
天守群を中心に、櫓、門、土塀等の建造物や石垣、
堀などの土木建築物が良好に保存され、
防御に工夫した日本独自の城郭の構造を最もよく示した城で、
白鷺城（はくろじょう・しらさぎじょう）等、
別の名称を持つ事でも知られています。
