This is my strategy for the next stock market crash, coming in 2019, 2020 or even 2021. The stock market has been going up for over 10 years, and the average stock market crash happens every 5 to 10 years. We are due for a stock market recession in the coming years, possibly in 2019 and 2020. How do we protect ourselves in a stock market crash and make money during a crash? The first strategy is to slowly buy in the market instead of all at once. By using dollar cost averaging, we can have a lower price in the market. Instead of buying at the top price of the market, we can buy throughout one year and get a medium price. By using dollar cost averaging, we will be in the green much faster, and get a lot more profits over time. The second strategy to protect against a stock market recession is to buy safer stocks. Stocks like Mcdonalds, Waste Management, and Walmart all stayed healthy during the last market crash. People will always need cheap food, cheap products, and garbage collection. All these stocks only went down a bit when everything else was going down 50% or more. Using dollar cost averaging, and safe stocks, our portfolio will actually make money once stocks start recovering. This is the best way to stay safe in a stock market crash.
