The Baloch people, an indigenous ethnic group, primarily inhabit the vast region of Balochistan, which stretches across modern-day Pakistan, Iran, and Afghanistan. Their origins trace back to a land known as Balasagan, from where they embarked on a migration spanning over a thousand years, eventually settling in the rugged terrain that is now Balochistan. In this new homeland, the Baloch forged a unique political and cultural identity, establishing the state of Kalat as their sovereign centre. Kalat thrived as an independent state until 1839, when British forces occupied it, eventually absorbing it into their empire in 1876, marking a significant turning point in Baloch history.
