First and foremost, we should express our desire to see more of New Vegas than we now have. Yes, owing to Robert House and The Ghoul/Cooper, there have been hints of it over several eras, but the plot becomes more complex when you consider what we are eventually aiming for. We plan to spend more than a few episodes there because that is the focal point of much of the excitement this season.
If you want to criticize Fallout for anything at the moment, you could say that we are concentrating too much on the plot while also skipping over a number of Easter eggs from the New Vegas game. However, watching the show's portrayal of the Legion was enjoyable, particularly because Macaulay Culkin had a purposefully absurd role. The purpose of the entire plot seemed to be to demonstrate to us that Walton Goggins' character genuinely cares about Lucy, which may assist the two proceed in comparatively closer lockstep throughout the remainder of the story.
