Iran–China Railway Corridor Explained | Why It Matters Globally

The rail route stretches over 10,000 kilometres, passing through Central Asian countries such as Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan. Analysts say this corridor could become an important supply line for transporting goods and essential materials between Iran and China.

However, the future of the route depends on whether these Central Asian nations would allow it to be used for military supplies. While they maintain close relations with Russia, they have also built economic ties with the United States in recent years.

Iran has reportedly said it does not currently need military assistance from Russia or China, possibly to avoid complicating diplomatic talks. Experts say the Tehran–Yiwu railway corridor could become a key geopolitical link in the region.
