Today, after fractious talks, it was thrown a lifeline. The EU has approved €90 billion to Ukraine for the next two years.
'Perfect is the enemy of the good', Ukraine's deputy foreign minister said as European leaders, burning the midnight oil, finally came to a compromise.
But the deal will not be funded by frozen Russian assets, which President Zelenskyy had hoped for, as EU leaders failed to agree.
