SEBI has introduced a new consultation paper in which it has proposed that AMCs should include all additional expenses like GST, brokerage and so on under the TER.
Let's understand what TER is and what is SEBI proposing in this new paper.
To begin with, let's understand what a TER is. A fund house or AMC incurs various expenses and costs to manage a Mutual Fund. These costs are charged to Mutual Fund investors as a fee known as the Total Expense Ratio or the TER.
The new paper proposes to club several expenses incurred by investors under one umbrella of the TER. The TER reflects the maximum expense ratio that an investor may have to pay and hence it should be inclusive of all the expenses permitted to be charged to an investor and the investor should not be charged any amount over and above the prescribed TER limits, Sebi said in its consultation paper.
