Steel City Choristers and St Mary’s Social Supermarket on Bramall Lane have worked together to help people explore the stories and emotions behind their favourite songs.
We have connected six songs chosen by people from St Mary's with six pieces from the traditional English choral repertoire through the themes of comfort, gratitude, loss, love, unity and structure. All twelve songs are performed by Steel City Choristers, with the St Mary's community choir joining them for the six songs chosen by St Mary's, at a concert on 7 October 2023. The hope is that the beauty and transcendence of the choral tradition will help people to find the space to reflect on the role of songs in their own lives.

This video explores the theme of SELF ESTEEM. The song chosen by St Mary's was "This is Me" by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (from "The Greatest Showman"), and the choral piece chosen was Psalm 139.
