The International Online Lecture Series “Towards an Intelligent Construction Environment” explores the theory and practice of digital technologies applied to the construction sector. It addresses topics such as digital twins, drones, artificial intelligence, mixed reality, wearable devices, digital fabrication, and modular construction. It also examines integrative approaches, including Lean Construction 4.0 and Industry 5.0, and their alignment with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This lecture series is coordinated by Prof. Dayana Bastos Costa, from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA, Brazil), in partnership with Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (UC-Chile, Chile), Massey University (MU, New Zealand), Aarhus University (AU, Denmark), Nottingham Trent University (NTU, United Kingdom), University of Florida (UF, United States), University of São Paulo (USP, Brazil), Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS, Brazil).
In this lecture, Prof. Masoud Gheisari (University of Florida - USA) discusses Safe Human-Robot Interaction in Construction: Focusing on Aerial Robots.
Dr. Masoud Gheisari is the Director of Graduate Programs & Research and an Associate Professor in the M.E. Rinker, Sr. School of Construction Management at the University of Florida. He leads the Human-Centered Technology in Construction (HCTC) research lab: https://hctclab.dcp.ufl.edu/. His research focuses on the theoretical and experimental investigation of human-robot interaction in construction and technology-supported education innovation. He earned his Ph.D. in Building Construction (2013) from the Georgia Institute of Technology. To date, he has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed papers in the fields of virtual/augmented/mixed reality (VR/AR/MR) and safe human-drone/robot interaction in construction.
