वाराणसी में ट्रांसपोर्ट नगर प्रोजेक्ट को लेकर किसानों का आक्रोश बढ़ता जा रहा है। रिपोर्टर चौपाल में किसानों ने आरोप लगाया कि जिस परियोजना पर सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने रोक लगाई है, उस पर अब भी काम जारी है। किसानों का कहना है कि उनकी जमीन की बाजार कीमत लगभग 26 लाख रुपये प्रति बिस्वा है, लेकिन सरकार केवल एक लाख रुपये प्रति बिस्वा देने की बात कर रही है। उनका आरोप है कि पिछले पांच वर्षों से सर्किल रेट नहीं बढ़ाया गया, ताकि जमीन औने-पौने दाम पर अधिग्रहित की जा सके। किसानों ने निष्पक्ष मुआवजे और न्याय की मांग की है।
Farmers in Varanasi have intensified their protest over the Transport Nagar project. During Reporter Chaupal, they alleged that despite a stay order by the Supreme Court, work on the project is still continuing. According to the farmers, the market value of their land is around ₹26 lakh per biswa, while the government is offering only ₹1 lakh per biswa as compensation. They further claimed that circle rates have not been increased for the past five years to facilitate land acquisition at lower prices. The protesting farmers are demanding fair compensation and strict compliance with court orders.
