The Origin of Misi (in Penang Hokkien)

Описание: My connection with Hokkien has grown (innately) stronger as time goes by. It has been sitting dormant in a corner, as I continued to sing, learn other languages, learn more about the body, continued with lip and tongue thrills, ponder about the local vernacular school systems etc.

I realise that I am only truly comfortable when I speak in Hokkien in a particular space, ie. with my family, or people that I can open up to - because this speaks of a particular function to myself as a user, and a certain level of intimacy is definitely part of what is important to tap into speaking Hokkien. Which explains why I hardly converse in Hokkien with my friends (even in Penang, or speaking with Penangites) because other social settings are just easier with the other languages that are available as an option on the language menu. Speaking about emotional unavailability 🥲
Long story short, the only way to preserve this is to use it and I've decided to take it out from the dusty closet and put 👏 it 👏into 👏good 👏👏👏👏👏use

My hokkien is definitely rusty. But the piakia in it is still intact from its usage 🥵🥵🥵(thats a topic for another day)

Here's a little story for you!! Lai la lang beh beh len gong Hokkien ua. It is a language - and if I've getting anything wrong, please comment so I can learn something too!
