I stopped at the Danubius Grand Hotel Margitsziget for a week in August 2018. Two of us stayed in one room on a bed and breakfast basis, this was a package from Jet2CityBreaks, which is a subsidiary of Jet2Holidays a part of Jet2.com. The package included return flights from Leeds Bradford Airport plus 22kg hold luggage (each), It cost a total of £1,285 for two people (so £642.50 each), which worked out MUCH cheaper, than booking the flights and hotels separately.

The hotel is located on Margaret Island, which is actually a bit of an oasis of tranquillity in what is an extremely large and busy city. As we were there for a week, we had alternate 'city' and 'island' days. On city days we explored the MANY sites that Budapest has to offer, on island days we used the facilities at the sister hotel next door to the Danubius Grand.

The sister hotel is called the Danubius Health Spa Resort Margitsziget, and is where all of the gym, swimming and wellness facilities are located. It was really lovely to be able to sunbathe and swim outside there in 30 degree heat.

The hotels are approximately 50 metres apart. You can get from one to the other either by walking outside, or using an underground tunnel.

The Danubius Grand Hotel is a very traditional Hungarian hotel, decorated in a classical style, with muted and dark colous and ornate antique style furnishings. This is not a 'modern' hotel, so if you are looking for a Novotel / Holiday Inn / Radisson Blu experience, this hotel might not be for you. Personally speaking, I found it quite charming, and I'm sure that many visitors would appreciate its old-worldliness.

The bedroom was large with a balcony, the bed was very large, a super-king, there was ample storage and a very modern and newly refurbished bathroom.

The breakfast buffet was slightly varied each day and was very good, it had hot and cold options, a combination of international and Hungarian cuisine.

All of the staff in the hotel that I encountered gave great customer service and were very friendly.
