Jabulani guide Reece took this video of a group of spotted hyenas going for a swim.
This waterhole sees all sorts of visitors – from guests enjoying their sundowners to elephants cooling off in the water. There’s even a hippo who comes around every now and then (the same hippo who sometimes visits the waterhole at the lodge). But it’s not every day that you see hyenas in the water!
This is playful behaviour, but the hyenas are still careful in the water. Reece explains: “You can see that they're still very wary about being in the water with their ears pricked up and attention towards the water, not too sure if there is a threat in the water or not.”
