A morning among the giants of Cathedral Trees Trail in Redwood National Park. This soundscape was recorded in Redwood National Park August 17, 2021. Due to its natural silence, it is very difficult to escape the noise pollution from U.S. 101. Even several miles away from it, my microphone was able to pick up the distant sounds of semi-tractor-trailers roaring down the highway. The "popcorn" like sound you hear is the dew droplets accumulating then falling on the vegetation below. It was a considerably misty sunrise with so much moisture in the air I had to be careful with my equipment.
