Brettstuhl build ⏩

Описание: This is a sped up impression of the processes involved when building a Brettstuhl (board chair). It is built following along a Drew Langsner article (https://www.finewoodworking.com/1981/.... Material is oak, only the legs are ash.

The joinery is a bit of interest: tapered, sliding dovetail battens to prevent the seat from warping or breaking, locked in place by the back whose tenons go through seat and batten locking those in with wedges to lock the tenons themselves. No glue here. Bit of angles going on as well.

Legs are glued, cylindrical, round tenons, just through the batten; they would compromise the ability of the seat to move if they went through. Used hide glue for the laminated board blanks and the legs. Finish is tung oil and orange oil.
I really like the construction, even if it's a bit tricky to build. All in all happy that it turned out functional.
