Birkhead Mountain Wilderness - Exploring the Past with Lidar - Uwharrie National Forest

Описание: In this video I'm back in the Birkhead Mountain Wilderness area, Uwharrie National Forest.
Where I look for a camp site and follow 2 creeks. One unnamed creek and Robbins branch creek.
I do plan on documenting these areas more extensively in the near future.

There are some old trails, roads, old rock walls and unusually natural and man-made features in this wilderness area, you wont find on any map.

My goal was to locate a good base-camp, from which I will venture out and explore interesting target locations I found using lidar data. In the intro chapter, I share that lidar data and detailed plan of action.

This was a scouting expedition, I did not backpack in and camp.
Goal is to get back there, before the end of March. Spring is around the corner.
An exploration like this, is easier before the foliage grows in. Also Birkhead Mountain Wilderness is known to have a healthy rattle snake population.
Might be investing in some gaiters if I plan to continue this in spring and summer.
Good chance I will.
