Imagine being stranded in a disaster zone — no food, no power, no communication — and just when rescue is near, it’s sabotaged.
That’s exactly what happened during Operation Brahma, India’s humanitarian mission to earthquake-hit Myanmar. On March 28, as the Indian Air Force’s C-130J aircraft carried critical relief supplies, it was hit by a GPS spoofing cyberattack mid-air. The aircraft was fed false location data, threatening the mission and endangering lives.
This shocking incident occurred over Myanmar airspace, amid ongoing relief efforts following a 7.7 magnitude earthquake.
While GPS spoofing is not new — with over 465 incidents reported in India’s Amritsar and Jammu sectors since November 2023 — targeting a humanitarian mission marks a chilling escalation in cyber warfare.
Thanks to the IAF pilots’ quick response and shift to internal navigation systems, the mission was completed safely. But the question remains:
Who’s behind this digital sabotage? And what does this mean for the future of humanitarian operations in hostile tech environments?
Watch the full video to uncover the details.
