Mothers Begin Indefinite Hunger Strike Over Niglok Ferro-Silicon Plant
Mothers from Ralung and Ngorlung villages have begun an indefinite hunger strike at Ralung Village Community Hall demanding the permanent closure or relocation of the ferro-silicon factory located at Industrial Growth Centre (IGC), Niglok.
The protestors expressed concern over the alleged health and environmental impact of the plant on nearby habitations and said the agitation would continue until the Government of Arunachal Pradesh gives a firm assurance on their demand.
Carrying placards and voicing their grievances, the women stated that the safety of the local population must be prioritised. The hunger strike is being led by village mothers as a symbolic appeal to protect the future of their children and the community.
